oops

While procrastinating my mountains of homework I was fiddling around with my blog...and well now it looks like this. Not too thrilled about that, but since no one reads this I am ok with just leaving it like this for a wee bit while I focus on my homeworks. Someday I will figure out how to make a cute blog :)

rainy night in chicago

Friday after class my dad and I hit the road for good old chi town. It was drizzling a little bit when we got there but that didn't stop us from exploring before the night was over. That drizzle turned into a downpour. We fought through the rain on Michigan Ave and finally gave in going into a store for an umbrella. We walked out of the store and of course the rain stopped. The city lights reflecting on the clouds gave the sky a purplish hue. The streets were clean and shiny from the shower. Thanks rain for making Chicago so beautiful for us tonight.

fancy feast

My dadio is in town for a visit! He flew in last night from Salt Lake City and we kicked off his tour of the Midwest in pure luxury. We were planning on having upscale bar food at Graze so I could introduce my dad to true Wisconsin fare. The wait was a bit long and their fancy sister restaurant L'Etoile had no wait...so we thought why not? A swanky dinner never hurt anyone.

Every bite was best thing I ever ate. Ask my dad and he'll tell you it was his favorite meal. It was a really neat dining experience. We didn't just get food, eat it and have a nice conversation. We experienced the most thought provoking dishes that the state of Wisconsin has to offer. The chef takes pride in sourcing all the food for his restaurant locally in Wisconsin, and it seriously made all the difference. If you want to splurge and you're a foodie like we are...GO HERE. You won't regret it.

Today our agenda is to head to Chi town after I'm done with class. We are staying on the Magnificent Mile! Shopping what? This weekend is going to be fun! I love being with my dad.

Why I'm not a model

You would think after all the ANTM marathons I have watched in my day I should be on the cover of Vogue by now...Tyra can only teach a girl so much.

films of late

Joey and I love going to the movies. When he was in town last weekend we went to a movie two days in a row. The first movie we went to was Seven Psychopaths by Martin McDonagh. With out getting into too much detail...any detail about the film it was well...psychotic. For me that was a good thing. For Joey it got old. The film is Quentin Tarantinoesque in that it is a mix of comedy, extreme violence and drama. Christopher Walken makes the film, but the rest of the cast did great too...Collin you are turning into a silver fox and I like it.

I agree with Joey that at the end it was trying too hard to muster up some deep meaning to justify all of the WTF moments. Since I have a twisted love for gore and comedy in one film this movie I'd give it 3.5 stars. Joey's rating was much lower, especially after seeing our second film Argo.

Argo directed by Ben Affleck was a nail biter to say the least. The film was really well done, and even though you knew it ended well, (history spoils that one)  you just didn't quite know how. Hollywood added some obviously untrue extras to keep us on the edge of our seats, but despite the overkill on suspense I really liked the movie. I love the 60s and 70s, and the film sparked an interest for me in Hollywood at the time of sci-fi exploding into the cinematic sphere.

For most people I would recommend Argo over Seven Psychopaths, but I have a few friends I know will appreciate the latter like I did...Mikell I am thinking of you.

It doesn't get any easier

Having to say goodbye to Joey was MUCH worse the second time than the first. I don't know why, but it was. Today was rough. I was a mess and ate my feelings in more halloween trader joe joe's than I'd like to admit. I am having such a blast being "pseudo single" living it up in my last days as a college student in one of the best cities in America don't get me wrong. Being with joey this weekend and having to send him away again though hit me like a load of bricks reminding me that us/we being together is true happiness.  He is my best friend and my everything. I am so grateful that I am finishing my education, but this seriously sucks. Luckily only one more month until I see my man again. Hurry up Thanksgiving!
sorry I know my grammar sucks. I am not feeling up fixing it so I hope the grammar nazi's don't have an aneurism. :)
